Alpine huts by country
The same daily reading, counted per country. Coverage is uneven between them, and this page says where it is thin rather than averaging that away.

|---|---|---|---|---|
| Italy | 1,174 | 77 | 7% | 31 |

| Sweden | 44 | 33 | 75% | 1 |
Where the reading is thin
Coverage is not even, and these are the cases where a low share means something a reader should know before trusting a count.
- Italy: 77 of 1,174 mapped huts publish a calendar we can read (7%). Much of the Italian corpus is unstaffed shelters and alpeggi rather than staffed refuges, and those take no online booking at all. The staffed rifugi are far better covered than the share suggests, and curation of the rest is still in progress.
- Slovenia: 0 of 128 mapped huts publish a calendar we can read (0%). Slovenian huts are mapped and routable, but the Alpine Association's huts publish no calendar we can read, so none of them can be counted here yet.
Why coverage differs by country
Alpine huts are not a chain. They are run by national clubs, regional sections, local authorities, families and individual wardens, across six countries and four main languages, and each of them solved booking when it got round to it.
The result is that whether a hut's availability can be read at all is mostly a question of which portal its owner uses. Where a national club runs one central reservation system, coverage is good. Where huts book by phone, by email, or through a site with no public calendar, the hut is still mapped and routable but its beds cannot be counted.
So the figures below are not a ranking of the countries. They are a map of where the booking systems happen to be readable.
How to read the table
Huts mapped counts huts with a page on this site, each counted once even where our region packs overlap. Calendars read counts those whose own booking system publishes availability we read daily.
A country's country is resolved per hut, from the hut's own dialling code and booking domain, rather than from the region pack it is routed in. Several packs cross a border, so counting by pack would file Slovenian huts as Italian and Swiss huts as French.
