Can you still do the Tour du Mont Blanc right now?
Last checked 2 September 2026, 14:40 UTC. Availability is re-checked once a day against the huts' own booking systems.
Yes. Based on what the huts' booking systems showed at the last check, a full 12-night circuit is bookable, with the earliest departure on 3 September 2026.
This page has been assembling loops from each morning's booking calendars since 13 June 2026. On 43 of those 43 days it found at least one complete loop with beds showing free the whole way round, across 4 months of one season. Most of those days were worked out later from the stored calendars rather than published at the time, and one season is not a pattern - it says nothing about how the tour books up in a busier year. The day by day record is below.
The Tour du Mont Blanc is a circuit of about 170 km through France, Italy and Switzerland, usually walked in 10 or 11 days, sleeping in a hut or gite at the end of each stage. The stages and huts on the standard route are on the Tour du Mont Blanc page. This page answers a different question, from the current booking calendars: for a handful of realistic departure windows, is there a chain of huts with beds showing free on consecutive nights. The loops below are 12 stages and come out near 153 km, because they follow the huts that have beds rather than the waymarked line. The hut season runs to 30 September 2026; the last start date that fits the full 12-night circuit before then is 19 September 2026.
What this page means by the tour. A complete loop around the Mont Blanc massif, walked hut to hut - not the waymarked line hut for hut. Where the usual stage hut has beds showing free, these itineraries use it. Where it has none, they use another hut on a way round the massif and the table names the stage it stands in for. The waymarked route is itself a choice between variants - Bovine or the Fenêtre d'Arpette, Col de Tricot or the Bionnassay balcony - so a loop that takes a different one is still a tour of Mont Blanc. It may not be the loop in your guidebook, so it needs your own map-reading skills, and in late season it is often the only one with beds along it.
Every leg used here is graded T1 to T3 on the SAC scale - hiking to demanding mountain hiking - and none crosses a glacier or uses a via ferrata. That is a bound on the whole network these itineraries are built from, not a description of any one day: T3 still means exposed ground and sure-footedness in places, and a stage off the waymarked route can be quieter, rougher and less signposted than the one it replaces.

Last-minute Tour du Mont Blanc: the earliest departure with beds
The earliest departure with beds showing free for every night of a full loop is 3 September 2026, which is tomorrow - a whole loop can be booked tonight and started in the morning. That is what the windows above are built from: real huts, real dates, the beds each one showed at the last check. You book each night yourself, direct with the hut.
Tour du Mont Blanc in September
The huts close for the season on 30 September 2026, so the last day you can start a full 12-night loop and finish before they shut is 19 September 2026. Late season is when this page is most useful: the standard stages have thinned out, beds reappear at huts that were full in August, and the loop the data finds is often not the one in the guidebook.
Which Tour du Mont Blanc huts are full
Of the 12 huts on the standard stages, 8 publish a live calendar. Over the next 30 nights those show 111 of 194 hut-nights full (57%), counting a dormitory place as the bed. That is why the loops above swap stages: a full hut on the waymarked line is the normal case in high season, and a loop still exists around it. Walking the tour without booking means arriving at huts in this state and hoping; the figure above is the honest measure of that bet, and it is the same beds either way. Each hut's own page has its calendar: every hut on the Tour du Mont Blanc.
The record so far
Every morning so far
43 days on record, newest first
One row per morning we hold booking calendars for. Each row is the best chain that morning's calendars allowed, across all the departure windows searched that day. Rows marked "worked out later" were computed after the fact from the same stored calendars rather than published that morning, so they show what was bookable, not what this page said at the time. Every row reflects the calendars as they stood, not what the huts turned out to have.

How to read this
Every itinerary above is assembled only from what each hut's booking system showed at the last check - nothing is inferred or padded. Where the usual stage hut has no beds showing free, another hut within a normal walking day of its neighbours may take that night instead, and the table names the stage it stands in for. That is the loop-around-the-massif reading described above, so an itinerary here can differ from the waymarked route by more than a single hut. Nights marked "check online" or "ask the hut" are at places whose calendar we cannot read; the chain does not depend on them being free unless the notes say otherwise. Booking systems and hut desks can disagree, and room categories are reported differently by different systems, so please confirm with the hut before travelling. HutScanner takes no bookings; every link goes to the hut's own booking page.
Each plan starts at the first hut in its chain. Getting to that starting point - transport, parking, the walk in from the valley - is not yet part of the assembly and is yours to plan.
Sources: of the 74 huts and gites we track on and around the circuit, 67 publish a live booking calendar - via montourdumontblanc.com, the FFCAM reservation system, hut-reservation.org, CAI booking, and the huts' own reservation sites. Availability figures belong to those systems and to the huts themselves.
